19th ANNUAL SOUTHWEST HILLS NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION (SHiNA) POTLUCK PICNIC
on SUNDAY, AUGUST 21, 2:00-6:00PM
at the WAYNE MORSE FAMILY FARM, 595 Crest Drive.
This is a family-friendly event where neighbors can get (re)acquainted, share a potluck meal, enjoy entertainment, have some fun, find interesting information, share excess garden bounty, and just maybe even take home a prize.
TAIKO DRUMMING AND MUSIC

Ice cream and sparkling water with natural fruit flavors will be provided by SHiNA.

City of Eugene Police Department Crime Prevention Specialists Paul Bishop (the specialist assigned to the SHiNA area) and Margaret Mazzotta will have information about crime prevention and a prize wheel activity for children. The North American Butterfly Association will have an information booth.
Sandy Scheetz of the Oregon State University (OSU) Extension Service Master Preservers will be available to answer your questions about the preservation of harvests, home or otherwise. Sarah Grimm of the Pollution Prevention Coalition of Lane County will be there with a Master Recycler information table. SHiNA Board member Kathy Bosteder will be your go-to person if you would like to register to vote and make your concerns be counted. Look for the patriotic display.
Additional – free – information about local wildlife, gardening, wildfire protection, EWEB watering gauges and water-wise gardening books, and more will also be available.
If you would like to share produce from your garden, please feel free to bring your extras. And if you have some amazing recipes for that abundance of late summer gardening results, do please bring copies.
AND MORE FUN ACTIVITIES FOR CHILDREN
In addition to the above, there will again be activities geared specifically to children, this year organized by HoneyGirl of Circus Arts and including juggling, yo-yos, hula hoops, and more. The forecast is for warm weather – if that comes to pass, a mister and a gentle sprinkler – and of course that free ice cream – will help cool things down.
