All participating neighborhoods will be holding a food collection drive to benefit Food For Lane County this Sunday, February 13th from 10:30am – 2:30pm. All participating Donation drop sites are listed on the Flyer. The Southwest Hills Neighborhood Association will be collection donations at Wayne Morse Family Farm located at 595 Crest Drive.
Registration for this event closes this coming Sunday, August 22.

Eugene Ready!, is a hands-on, interactive event to practice emergency response skills. The sponsors and organizers are PathfinderEX, a group of veterans and medical people. The event will focus on neighborhood response during a major disaster, neighborhood surveying to find strengths and needs of those who live nearby, and neighborhood communication. This is not a power point presentation, more like a drill. The event is meant to empower neighborhoods in the event of a disaster.
State and local guidelines for Covid will be followed.
If you have any friends or family who reside in the Whiteaker Neighborhood the WCC, in partnership with the Oregon Health Authority and Wallgreens will be conducting a Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen COVID-19 vaccine clinic on Friday, March 12th from 10:00am – 6:00pm.
This clinic will be conducted in the Whiteaker, prioritizing eligible Whiteaker residents, but we have slots available for other neighborhood residents who are eligible under the State guidance (Phase 1A groups 1 – 4 and Phase 1B groups 1 – 5) per Oregon’s Vaccine Distribution plan. You must sign up with the form to attend.

Congressman Peter DeFazio will address federal initiatives to support transportation electrification at EVEVA’s Quarterly Meeting, by Zoom. EVEVA, is also offering our free Zoom workshop again on March 11 and March 16 at 7:00 pm. The online workshop is for anyone interested in finding out about electric vehicles. There is even a $1000 discount offered on the purchase of an electric car from a local dealership. The workshop is offered in partnership with the City of Eugene, EWEB, and the University of Oregon Office of Sustainability.

The Eugene Wildfire Preparedness Coalition is having another Zoom presentation to help residents of our neighborhood prepare. This meeting is one in a series on preparing your neighborhood & home home for fire. The event will be held on Wednesday, February 24th at 6:00pm. Join us on Zoom.
Hello everyone! Thank you so much for your donations over the past weekend, everyone who participated made this drive possible. The turnout at all the food drives was so unprecedented that it took a few days for Food For Lane County to pick everything up and sort through it. Here are the total collections from each donation site below.
Food for Lane County calculated the combined food and fund totals into meals, and the food drives were able to collect 13,190 meals for our community! We are in awe of our community’s generosity and the way you all came together to support people in need during these trying times. These donations are much needed right now. Food For Lane County has seen a record number of new clients in the last year, due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, as well as continued weekly deliveries to residents on the McKenzie River who were affected by the Holiday Farm Fire. Food For Lane County’s mission is to reduce hunger by engaging the community, and you all were the very embodiment of our mission this past Saturday. Thank you!

Since the beginning of the pandemic, millions of Americans worry about nearly empty refrigerators and barren cupboards for their children and themselves. In Lane County, the need for food security has greatly increased and those people without jobs and folks affected by the Holiday Farm Fire depend more on food pantries.
Please help by donating canned food –
Peanut butter, tuna, canned stews, soup and chili are among the most needed foods.
Curbside drop off –Volunteers will be wearing masks, and we ask you to remain in your vehicle to help provide social distancing. Please pop the trunk or open the backseat door while we take your donation.

It’s the time of year when local blood supplies are dipping due to high patient demand. Don’t wait until a person close to you needs blood, act now by giving at a Pop-Up Donor Center near you.
All donations are by appointment only, please remember your mask. The one hour donation appointment is a safe and essential action to support local hospitals and patients. The pop-up centers are being conducted in accordance with social distancing guidelines. No walk-ins, guests, or people under age 16 are permitted onsite.
