SHiNA Annual Picnic Signs Missing

Dear Neighbors,

The Southwest Hills Neighborhood Association (SHiNA) had it’s 20th Annual Potluck Picnic on Sunday, August 13th from 2-6pm at Wayne Morse Family Farm, 595 Crest Dr.

The weather was pleasant and the event was enjoyed by many adults and children. Thank you to everyone who came by and made the event possible.

As part of The SHiNA Annual Picnic advertisement we have put up signs a week before the event and picked them up on Monday evening. 18 of the 24 signs placed were retrieved and can be reused next year.

6 signs were missing at:

  • City View & Shield (Found & Returned)
  • Chambers & McClean
  • 29th & Portland
  • Willamette & 30th
  • Willamette & Crest
  • Willamette & 37th

The signs cost $25 each to print and can be reused with a date change for next year.

If you picked up one of the signs please send us a message via our contact page.

Let’s reuse rather than waste, it would be much appreciated!

Janet Bevirt, SHiNA Secretary

Fire Danger Warning August 2017

The Oregon Department of Forestry want neighbors to know that even though we had a wet spring, it is dry out now and with the heat and wind we are experiencing fires.

People should be careful with any kind of ignition source, even lawn mowing.

When the fire danger is ‘High’ mowing dry grass is NOT allowed between the hours of 10 am and 8 pm on ODF protected lands.

However, the time you are allowed to mow, run chainsaws, and a few other things fluctuates with the fire danger.

General Meeting Thursday Jan 12, 2017

I apologize for this very late notice.

There has been some confusion over the neighborhood General Meetings. Last year we met monthly at Good Sam at 3500 Hilyard on the 3rd Sunday, 2pm.

The Board has scheduled less frequent meetings and is trying to move to a week night. We are still narrowing down a venue so this is still being worked.

For January, the meeting is tonight, Thursday 1/12 starting at 6pm at the Wayne Morse Family Farm. There is a limit of 30 people allowed, but we have not seen this number of people in a few months so hopefully we will be within the fire code regulation limit this evening.

We are moving to a weeknight as Sunday afternoons were hard for folks weekend schedule. Once we secure a venue I will share the calendar with you and on our website, which is also in transition.

I apologize for the confusion. We are working to have this rectified shortly.

I am also hoping with a more mobile society that we can incorporate some of the discussions on NextDoor. Being able to communicate when convenient and without a 2 hour time commitment seems to make more sense these days.

The decisions being discussed and voted on are important for everyone in this neighborhood. I hope to encourage more of that with this tool.

Regards,
Vic
